accent pillow case baby burlap rug DIY Glitter House, “A Grateful Home” customized baby gifts

For the last few years at Christmas time I’;ve wanted to make a glitter house village. ?Rhonna made some a few years ago that I LOVE! ? I bought the house with that intention. Then decided to take a little pressure off of myself at Christmas and make one for Thanksgiving instead. ?A Grateful Home.

I used Rhonna Designs InstaBanner and Grateful Glam kits. ?The house found it’;s “;spot”; on my fireplace mantle and coordinates nicely with my Give Thanks banner from last year.

To make the house here’;s what I did:

-Spray Painted the roof with Copper Metallic spray paint

-Base coated the house with white craft paint, if I did it again though I’;d use spray paint, it takes so much craft paint and it’;s not as smooth as the spray paint was.

-Using glitter glue and glitter (both by Martha Stewart) I covered the house with glue then sprinkled the antique silver glitter all over the house.

I printed off a sheet of paper with lots of the Grateful Glam pieces on it. ?One of them was this banner that I made with the InstaBanners kit. I just added the word “;Grateful”; on top.

I then used washi tape to attach it to a bamboo skeweraccent pillow case baby burlap rug, along with a couple of clouds. ?Then just poked a hole in the chimney and put the skewer in. ?It fit snugly and I didn’;t need any glue.

I embellished the house with some tissue paper lollies in the eaves, and a little pennant punched from the paper I printed out.

I found a couple of trees and pumpkins at the craft store that I glued to the base. ?I used hot glue for everything, and I’;ve got the blister to prove it *wink*.

I found a little acetate clock in my stash of stuff and glued it to the front of the house too.

I’;m so happy with how it turned out!! It was not as hard as I thought it was going to be (or as time consuming!)…; I put it on our fireplace mantle to remind our little family to have a “;Grateful Home”; this Thanksgiving season.
